Issues with a Napit registered sparky

Hi,

I had a full rewire done and I was told certification and notification to building control were included.

The guy was never turning up, breaking promises, stating that he could do this and that and then suddenly it was this tool has broke, I’m in hospital and job took 3 weeks longer than he advised.

The issue I have is he hasn’t provided certification and notification and 2 weeks ago advised he would do it in the next 2 days. I have text him a few times and he hasn’t responded. He hasn’t done it and I want to contact NAPIT, but my worry is as he hasn’t registered it in time it can no longer be done and I’m making things worse for myself. I’m unsure what I need to do. Any advise much appreciated.

Thanks

Have you paid him in full? If not, ask him to provide the certification within a set timeframe, or you'll get the council to sign it off with costs deducted from what you owe.

If you are paid up, write to him, and ask him to provide the certification within a set timeframe, or you'll get the council to sign it off with costs recovered from him. Do you have his full name and address, if you needed to make a small claim?
  • Hi, yes I have all his details and he’s all paid up. Had a very good rating so I’m surprised he’s like this.

Do I need to come yacht Napit then or just my local council? I put some stuff in the attic and I can see some grey wires loose across the middle of the floor, should these be fixed down. He also said the noise the kitchen light makes is normal for LED kitchen lights but it’s sick a loud buzz, I can’t imagine anyone would put up with that for the sake of having an LED light.

    Thanks for your help.

Give NAPIT a call - he might not even be registered with them. Do you have a quote/invoice from him with NAPIT on it?
Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.
  • His van has it on the side of it and he’s registered from what I can see.
