Morning all. the balmy delights of 10 degrees awaits us today, I shall get my shorts out...No, I shan't, I shall get my leggings and a thick jumper. The drawers are waxed and buffed, but probably need another going over and I have to find some handles I like somewhere. One of the cats has taken to sleeping on top of it so it's still downstairs. I made a start on the hinges yesterday, all marked out, five of them cut ready, one more to do today. I took the piece of metal off the bottom of the door yesterday and discovered it's not a piece of aluminium as I'd thought, but sheet steel, weighs a ton. The door is half the weight without it. Ordered the van for Friday to fetch the sofa and chairs and have rejigged the living room to make space for the old sofa to be taken apart and stacked. Without my car, I can't take it to the tip but inroads have been made there, I've ordered the part online. A friend who lives next door to the friend going back to Germany wants to fetch a fridge freezer while I have the van so it's looking like at least three trips in on Friday. I'm borrowing her husband to do the sofa so fair's fair...
So today is hang door, find something else besides the sheet steel to go on the bottom of it, I have a piece of wood that may be suitable. I made kedgeree last night so that's todays food sorted, breakfast, dinner and supper...Or maybe soup for dinner. I have some stale bread to turn into breadcrumbs and I'm down to the last packet of cat food. Detour to town on the way back tomorrow to put a cheque in and get some cat food.
Cox, hope he gets over it quickly..And logistically a nightmare trying to separate a household...Gers, lovely advent candle! We never did advent candles so I've never seen one in action...Happy St Andrews day to you and camelot...Scarlet, when I used to go shopping before, the OH would sometimes come and I'd lose him to the middle aisle for the enirety of the shopping. TA, enjoy the normality! Florence, I had a giggle at nativity costumes. My mother made some pretty good ones with the help of my father and his DIY skills...Anyone remember angel costujmes out of sheets, curtain hangers and tinsel? Snoozer, the beef sounds lovely...Making me hungry...Take care today all of you, it maybe be slightly warmer but that's no reason to stop cosying up...Maybe with the pre-Christmas Baileys?
Morning, I don't think it stopped raining all night - still, as you say TA it's washed the snow away! ( Glad DD & DGD were ok) I was going to go on a bus trip to Chorley market this morning but decided it'd be a miserable trip in this rain. I might wrap the pressies I got for the DGC in town yesterday. DS2 showed me their lists last night - DGS is fairly modest , DGDs is , how shall I put it- ambitious , but luckily the things I did get yesterday tie in!
DS1 & I also went to B&Queue in the afternoon, he got his bits and I got a tin of paint mixed to do the chimney breast, a bit more colour. We are having a dilemma - we bought a sofa and chair off the bay as the leather on the old one was very scratched - pooch likes to snuggle next to DH in the evening so we didn't want to splash out on a brand new one. It looked in great condition when we put it in the room and we were really pleased with it until a few nights sat in it. The seats seem to throw you backwards & sink in and it's really hard to get out of - we don't think it's helping our backs! I wouldn't like to resell it to some unsuspecting soul so do we tip it or try to replace some of the seat padding. DH has investigated seat foam and reckons about £100 for that, or look for another? Decisions, decisions...
I need to rummage in the freezer for tea, then continue my sm order. Take care all x

Morning, hugs if you need one, late to the table as I had an early supermarket visit planned.
We managed to turn the bed round yesterday, so I have now ordered two cream 2 over 3 chests for either side of the bed. Decorator is coming last week in January, so I will be able to order the carpet for the following week and I will buy the curtains from Dunelm for the sitting room. The sitting room curtains are going to be dry cleaned and then lined with blackout lining to go in the bedroom, the background colour of the curtains is a very close match to the carpet and I am taking a colour from them for the walls.
I also made a very large pot of scotch broth, so thats the next few days lunches sorted. I cut the fat out of the left over lamb and put that in.
Supper tonight will be smoked haddock, poached egg and bread and butter, we have a couple of small ginger puddings so we may well have them.
Milder here today. Had a telephone consultation with a Doctor and I have a face to face appointment for next week. Made a batch of cinnamon & sultana muffins before going to lunch, prayers and Bible study at the SA. Muffins went down well at the lunch - came home with none left.
