agree, go local independent who stock the window system you want and negotiate. There is always a deal to be done.

Stay local and go with recommendations from friend who have used them . I have been fitting double glazing for 38 years . own my own company . 3 vans 3 lads and myself . no shop no advertising office in sons bedroom ( son moved out) Not once in that time have I ever overpriced to reduce to haggle it down .  I don't even like wasting their time in trying to sell myself very well . Arrive on time give price write it down and leave . If they agree then I will measure and order . fit and get paid . My best sales line for me is . I'm not a sales rep . google earth was invented to price jobs . If I can see it I an price it

I've got a quote from 3 local businesses and prices for reaching the two windows sets range from £1,200 to £2,200. Crystal gave me a call back to say they give the discount (typical) for £2,500. Repair will cost me around £600, just replacing the glass.

Will be interested to get others thoughts on the my quotes so far. Crystal Windows have come back to say the lowest they can do is £2,500 for the upstairs windows. Another came back. To say £2,200.

The last, who as far as I can see is a one man band, has said both windows supplied and fitted will be £1,100. I've responded to confirm the quote and ask about what windows are being fitted as that seems too cheap!

locally that's a £900 job (£1100 max if it needs a bit of making good) . you should not be paying  a grand a window . no pvcu  profile is worth that much in difference . ive tried to look at what crystal use if theyre the Romford gang . they don't advertise the profile do you know ? not on the website . they do A+10 rated frames . WHAT THE HECK IS THAT ?? Mine are AA+300 if we can say it . With AAA+ a billon glass rating .

I imagine that it's a window with an energy positive rating of 10kWh/m2/year https://www.bfrc.org/energy-performance

It's two windows, both measuring 1250x1030

friend of mine has his windows replaced recently, 3 bed terrace. triple glazing, bay in the living room etc. around £3000 all inclusive (VAT, skip, fitting). £1000 sounds about right for 2 large windows, no need to go with the others, there's nothing suspicious about that price.
