Explicitly said no to credit search but it was done

I recently had a call from virgin about a new contract. I agreed until the adviser said he’d need to do a credit search. I then asked him not to go ahead as I was in the process of sorting out a mortgage and wanted to check with my mortgage broker first. I told him quite a few times not to do the search. He agreed to call me the following day once I’d spoken with my broker.
I didn’t get another call.
Despite that I can now see a search was done on that day by virgin . I don’t know what impact if any it will cause but surely they should not have done that?

What sort of search? Soft searches affect absolutely nothing.0

I think it is a soft search but still no consent means it should not have been done0

Well if its a soft search then it is meaningless, stop worrying about it. They occur all the time.
Bigger things to worry about.3 -
Not going to impact your mortgage application. You appear to be over thinking matters and what's important on your file.0
