Hive radiator valves - any good?

We've got a Hive system at home, and we really like it. I see they do rad valves now.

Anyone got them & are they good?

Any others that anyone can recommend?

The TRV valves work great - when they work.

I had a hive system and 10 TRV's around the house. Six of them worked great first time. Three of them took several attempts to calibrate and one just flat-out refused to calibrate after 12 attempts. I know this is anecdote rather than data but is a genuine experience

  • We have them throughout the house, and they are good - but with limitations. I like being able to have complete control on a room by room basis, however, you cannot group the TRVs to program them together.

For example, we have 4 rads in our open plan kitchen and living area. I want them all to be on the same schedule, but if I want to tweak timings or boost the whole area, I need to do it for each TRV individually.

With that caveat, once they are set up they do work fine. But be aware that if you have a big house or thick walls you might also need to get a signal booster.
  • You should also be aware that you can't use the 'ready by' function (i.e. the feature that predicts how long it will take to heat the house, and starts the heating to reach your set temperature by the set time) in conjunction with the TRVs.

A fair bit of info at:

Thanks for all that great info, really appreciate it.
