Hi,

Confused as everyone else up and down the country. I fly into the UK on Saturday (10am) and Return on Sunday (5pm).

• Can I order a cheap postal kit and deliver this to a friends house
• If so, I can take the test and post back but probably wont receive the result by the time I return a day later.
• Can I get on my flight or is the result checked at the airport at check in before I board?

Otherwise is £240 for a x2 3hr tests when I land on Saturday :(

  • Where are you flying to at Sunday 5pm? You may need a test for that destination anyway.

I live in the Netherlands. Flying out and land in Birmingham at 10am on Saturday and return on the Sunday on the 5pm flight.

OK well as you are not a UK resident I would suggest you will still need to book a test and post it off, the fact you dont have the result back doesnt really matter if you are leaving the country anyway.

However dont you need a test to get back into the Netherlands from the UK, or are residents exempt from this requirement? I certainly needed one as per the Netherlands government website 2 weeks ago, I cant imagine this requirement has been relaxed.

The solution here would be to book a PCR test somewhere near Birmingham Airport for late Saturday morning that would cover you for both the UK arrival and Netherland arrival requirements (assuming this gives you a code for the UK arrival PLF form)
  • I'm exempt as I'm a resident. Trying to figure out if I can even get a rapid PCR test as it's drive through only.....sheesh! Hard work this is.

OK well in that case just buy the cheapest postal one you can find. The UK isnt a prison, you can go to the airport the day after and fly back out if the test result is back or not.

This cropped up last year/earlier this year when people had to home quarantine for 10 days but were flying back home on Day (as an example) 7 - the rules allowed you to go back to the airport and leave the country.
  • It's an automated money generator. Nothing else.
I have previously ordered 2 lots of day 2 kits for flights as it was mandatory just for a code on a PLR form....ridiculous.
  • I wouldnt disagree.

If I’ve read the new rules correctly though (and I’m so confused I might have misunderstood) we must now quarantine until we get a negative result, so slightly more effort than just numbers for the PLF . When I went away in September we did our postal tests but actually left home for a UK break before we got our results (we were both negative), for our January trip we shall need to quarantine at home and wait for our results- and as I mentioned on a previous thread I am going to be tight on time if there are any delays as I am attending an event shortly after I arrive home.

I also find it very confusing. Not everyone is there for 2 days but day 2 testing counts as day 0 when you land.
We're flying in and out. I can't even book a rapid 3hr test at Birmingham airport as it's drive through only. It's a shambles.

As already said, just do the cheapest postal one you can find, post it off on Saturday, and leave the country on Sunday if you have the result or not.
