Hi, I just went to order a replacement dehumidifier from Appliance Direct, but on the payment options screen they were adding a processing fee to credit card transactions. I thought that was illegal now?

Is it a personal or business credit card?0

They can't apply a fee only for credit cards, unless it's a business card. However, they can apply transaction fees to all transactions.0

They have a pop-up window explaining their surcharging, which asserts that this isn't payable by consumers:
Why is there a surcharge on credit cards?
Not happy with the surcharge? Neither are we!
We just want what’s best for you and we know that price is the most important thing for all our customers so wherever an extra service has a charge we let you decide whether you want to pay for it or choose another option.
Don’t forget, if you’re a consumer there isn’t a surcharge. And for businesses, it’s free to pay with Debit Cards or you can call our business team on 0871 984 4416 to set up a credit account.
