Boiler condensate

Just had a new boiler fitted. The condensate pipe runs outside into my conservatory aluminium gutter .The downpipe of the conservatory empties directly onto a gravel bed. From limited information I can find it would appear this method is not acceptable. My original had a soakaway but it was close to the house and over 3 metres from the boiler.

    Into an aluminium gutter?!
I'm guessing it'll rot through that in little time, because it'll certainly do this to copper.
Is there no internal plastic waste pipe it can go in to? Failing that, it should go into a small, limestone-chip soakaway so it's effectively neutralised before soaking away.
What other methods do you think you have? Can the old system not continue? 3m is a bit long, but if it works it works.
  • I think regulations state a maximum outside run of 3mts the existing one was done10 years ago when regulations were slacker.

I suspect very strongly that condensate will destroy your ali guttering.
Perhaps an email to the boiler manufacturer to confirm?

Is there space to incorporate a container of lime chips into the downpipe, perhaps at the bottom?

    I'm worried about the aluminium...
When I fitted my boiler yonks ago, I ran the condensate in the correct plastic pipe until it went out through the wall and into a drain outside. Except, I ran out of pipe, so finished the end piece in 22mm copper as a temp measure. 'Temp' as in around 3 years, when I discovered that the copper had rotted completely through along its sloping bottom edge.
  • Yes sorry I meant at the end of the run before it hits the roof
