Worried about miscommunication on missed service on lease car
Hi there, due to hand my lease PCH car back next year.
First 10k miles covid hit and was told I'd be fine to wait till a major service at 20k miles due to my mainly motorway driving
Now I've been told this is wrong and I could incur a pretty nasty fee. Is there anything I can do? Anyone know how much this will be or if I just have to suck it up. Don't think I'd be able to afford a heavy fee

Who told you that it was ok? The lease company or Fred down the pub?
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.2 -
What car is it ?My car is telling me it is due a service and the app is telling me I have 1% oil life left. You can't just ignore the service intervals because you haven't used it much, my service is due on time not miles. And yes, you have de-valued the car by not having a service and it will likely cost you dearly.0

It was a SEAT garage where I usually go for my service but there's no log of it as it was over the phonepeter_the_piper said:Who told you that it was ok? The lease company or Fred down the pub?0 -
It's a Seat Ibiza so not too high value. Do you have any idea how much it would sting?molerat said:What car is it ?My car is telling me it is due a service and the app is telling me I have 1% oil life left. You can't just ignore the service intervals because you haven't used it much, my service is due on time not miles. And yes, you have de-valued the car by not having a service and it will likely cost you dearly.0 -
The important question is what service schedule are you on ? Was a service actually due or did you just assume it was because Seat are not always a set 12m/x miles ?

Just wondering how many more cars have not been service to schedule due to Covid. MOT due dates were extended due to garages being closed so the same would apply to servicing I would have thought.Really up to the lease company but you can plead Covid as an excuse - lots of others do.0

MOT = is a official requirement. Servicing is a manufacture requirementGrey_Critic said:Just wondering how many more cars have not been service to schedule due to Covid. So. Garages were open through ALL lockdowns for servicing. Although in the 1st many did limit it to essential workers, as they worked with limited staff. But manufactures issued guidelines on servicing & keeping warranty intact.Life in the slow lane0 -
From the lease company's POV, the car's residual value will be lower because of an incomplete service history. Covid excuses won't change that.Grey_Critic said:Just wondering how many more cars have not been service to schedule due to Covid. all you can do is check your contract terms and conditions regarding maintenance and condition of the car. If it specifies that you must keep the car serviced in accordance with the car's service schedule, then yes, your service book should show stamps from 10k miles / year 1, and 20k miles / year 2, as that's what Seat service schedule is.0

If its petrol then its 10K / 1 year for my Skoda (which I assume will be the same for SEAT as the same engines)
If its diesel, then you can have variable servicing, but I think its still a year but the mileage is increased to approx 18K0
