Hi, I had one of my Vehicles booked in with Ford to investigate an engine management warning light on Thursday 18th November.
on Tuesday 16th the AA attended my vehicle for a separate fault to do with the near side front wheel. - I rang Ford and asked if I could take it early - they agreed.
the AA looked over the vehicle and left me with a card listing the fault codes 1. Maf Sensor and two DPF faults. There were two lights on the dash 1.engine management light and 2. Engine malfunction light. 

On dropping it at Ford an engineer looked over the vehicle with me noting the two lights.
the next day I had a call saying they had carried out a health check and identified a number of faults - 1 being two broken wires leading to the brakes. I said I’d had no problems with them, to which they stated there was a warning light on the dash? It wasn’t there at the time I left it, anyway today I had a call saying on further investigation the wires had been cut, the pipes looked new - so they said perhaps I should contact the previous garage where I had had the brakes done. I haven’t had any work on the brakes and hadn’t had a problem with them so I was confused. They say it will cost £220 to repair it.
my question is there wasn’t a problem before I took it to them, the AA didn’t identify a brake warning light, the engineer which checked it in didn’t, they say if the wires broken the light would be on - which it hasn’t been - inspected by the AA and one of their own technicians. What do I do?

Are you accusing the garage of lying? 

Who worked on the brakes previously? Pipes don't magically change themselves.

What do you do? Get the brakes fixed.  There's nothing else you can do, since you have no evidence of any wrongdoing.
