That is part of the purpose of the Prove It letter. Additionally, even if the OP was the owner, the account may have been in the name of the tenant at the time, so no, they should not “just pay it” even if it does relate to the period they owned the property.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

When you lived there were you with spark energy? You haven’t said if you informed them when you left and whether you paid a final bill?

Sounds as if you didn’t arrange to get final reads not did you contact the supplier to close your account down correctly.Be happy, it's the greatest wealth

Spark were notorious for giving finder fees to agents for signing tenants up and landlords during void periods so it is very likely they had something to do with the property being supplied by Spark.Welshy31 said:
I did it through an agency. I asked them about what to do, and they said that I needed to contact the energy company. They can provide me numbers for the meters, but they won't reach out to the energy companies on my behalf. The problem is that Spark Energy no longer exists and I can't contact them.molerat said:Did you let the property yourself or do it through an agency ?
