No Student Loan - reached dead end !

253 Posts

I , as a reasonable intelligent parent, am at the end of my tether with my daughters student finance. She already has had mental health issues with COVID and other things and still she has received no money from SLC
She is still living with us at the moment as she has no money to pay for any accommodation or food etc.
We have used student finance for the 3 years of my Son's uni and the first year of my daughter's uni and it has been fine, no issues.
This year however they sent a letter saying my daughter will receive no student loan. They went on to say she was overpaid last year and also they dont have the financial information from my wife and I. Despite nearly 10 ( yes 10 ) phone calls to discuss what was wrong an dish them the evidence we have sent on numerous occasions we are none the wiser.
The last phone call said they needed my self employed salary information. I explained I had already sent that including copies of the earnings/tax letters from HMRC. They then went on to say they need this years accounts!
I said to the guy thats ridiculous my accounts are not finalised until end of this year and if that was case no student would be paid in September. He agreed but said that what was written on his screen so he couldn't help. We asked to speak to a supervisor he said they didn't want to talk to us
We even wrote a letter of complaint detailing everything and despite a reply saying they would respond within 15 days its now 20 days and nothing !
What can we do..its really affecting my daughters mental health
