in Credit cards
Hi, I'm thinking of applying for a mortgage next year. I think my credit background is pretty good and I have several sources of emergency income if needed (a couple of current accounts with approx. £2000 unused overdraft each, old, fully payed-off credit card with a bit over £4000 credit available, a couple of savings accounts with about £5000 separate to my LISA). However, I am worried that I don't have enough credit history. I don't have any car-related payments, my electricity is pre-payed, my phone is on a month-rolling contract, credit card was payed off a couple of years ago. I think the only loan-type things that I have are my student loan (comes out of my payslip) and contents insurance (paying as DD, not sure if that counts). Should I try to get a new credit card and use that for a few months? If so, one bigger purchase or ongoing small amounts? Or try to extend the limit on my existing one?
Apologies if this has already been asked. I've seen a few similar posts, but they all seem to centre around people who don't already have credit cards or have had some recent issues.
Thank you!

If you have an existing credit card then just use it to make your usual day to day purchases - shopping, petrol, meals out etc - and pay off in full each month. Have you checked your 3 credit files ? I have 2 rolling 30 day phone contracts and they show up on my credit files.
