  • What's going on is what it says, pretty much. You've disputed an entry and so Equifax has added a NOC, as per their process.

You'll have to wait until your dispute gets knocked back (you can't just get hard searches removed on request so it will be) or a certain time period passes (I forget how long of the top of my head, perhaps 30 days) and the NOC will then be removed.
  • so not perm ? its only a energy search over its 6 months

    No, it's not permanent.

You don't ask for hard searches to be removed. They're removed automatically after a certain period has elapsed (and this can vary between CRAs)
  • Equifax are well known for adding NOCs to your file when you dispute something - even if you don't request to have it added.

I'd log a separate complaint over the NOC. Even if you are successful in getting the hard search removed, in my experience they won't always remove the NOC automatically.

Asking for a Python-esque response to that.
The individual has issued a notice of correction to correct this notion of correction. The original writers of the notice have been fired.

Did you complain to the energy company first before the CrA? Should always go direct to the company first otherwise this happens

Although in this instance the OP shouldn't have complained to anyone as nobody has done anything wrong.

They did it to me twice. They added an NOC when they resolved the issues (correcting my electoral register status). Both times telling me it wouldn't cause an issue with lenders. I had two high street lenders tell me otherwise.

The first time I got them to remove the NOC they reversed my electoral register status at the same time (making it incorrect again)... I mean just so incompetent.

The second time I specifically told them not to add an NOC but they still did. An NOC did not apply either time. I sent them proof of my electoral register status which they accepted and updated my report. I wasn't trying to explain away something on my report.

I'm not sure what the issue was in the first place since most searches stay on the Equifax report for a year (debt collection searches stay on for 2 years) and are pretty innocuous after 6 months anyway.

Absolutely not worth the effort disputing it since OP now has to deal with Equifax's obsession with NOCs, more damaging to a credit file than a hard search that's over 6 months old.

The OP seems to be under the impression that they go after 6 months and have disputed it based on that.  As you say they're there for a year if it's a credit search and anyway, disputing it with the entity that searched them would have been the wrong course of action even if it hadn't been removed automatically, that's something they'd need to raise with Equifax directly.
