Any Speed Camera Van Tolerances
Was doing 44mph in my car on the duler, when I saw a camera van parked on the duler filming, the speed limit is 40mph there. Will there be any tloerance allowed.
I know speed limits are there for a reason, but in all honesty there was no danger to anyone on that stretch of road.

If you were doing an indicated 44mph, then your actual was probably 41-42. Speedo’s aren’t supposed to read under, generally they play it safe and read slightly over.
I don’t think it’s set in stone, but 10% + 2mph seems to be the generally accepted tolerance at which prosecution starts, so 46mph.
Hopefully you’ll be Ok.0 -
10%+2mph is the guidance issued by the ACPO, strictly speaking they could prosecute at 41mph but no one has ever proved that they have be prosecuted at below the guidelines.0

Although ACPO ceased to exist in 2015.
Indeed it did. But their speeding guidelines were adopted by the successor organisation, the National Police Chiefs' Council. All police forces in England and Wales are said to subscribe to the guidelines which suggest that enforcement should not be undertaken below (Limit + 10% + 2mph).

On a speed awareness course a couple of years ago I was told that was no longer true and some forces are now much stricter. Bedfordshire was given as an example.TooManyPoints said:All police forces in England and Wales are said to subscribe to the guidelines which suggest that enforcement should not be undertaken below (Limit + 10% + 2mph).

We hear these stories from time to time, but never see any evidence.mgfvvc said:
