I would go back to Scottish Power and pretend you don't know why the name is different, and then saying you wondered why they kept sending everything to Smith.
They might need some proof from you, maybe bank account showing payments and proof of address etc.

You could also thanks Scottish Power for their service and maybe suggest that they give the amount to charity rather than refund you.I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0
