This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Good morning, it's an earlier start than usual for me, I've been awake since ridiculous o' clock.

We cleared the downstairs as much as we could yesterday for the carpet cleaning man who is coming this morning, so there's only the table and 2 chairs to move and a lamp or two.

 I've got an appointment to have my ears syringed as well, I'll be glad to get that over and done with.

It was good to see your post yesterday Dumpling, hope you are seeing a bit of an improvement, thinking of you.

Also thinking of our other poorlies and convalescents, good wishes to you.

Morning everyone 

Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x  

Still dark, dry underfoot but air temperature has really dropped.

DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.

Dinner last night was LO's - shepherds pie, roast chicken and veg and yorkshires - all eaten and enjoyed, just added some fresh gravy and some veg.  Tonight will be gammon and egg - I have a joint in the fridge that I'll cook in the ninja as soon as I get in from work - I'll serve chips with it and salad. 

Yesterday work was busy so the morning flew past - I then got home and had a couple of jobs that I needed to get done - admin/phone calls etc so got my lunch at nearly 2.30pm!  But got the jobs that I wanted to get done - done.  Last working day for me today so will be pleased to get finished today.  First day today of my slightly earlier finish time - we'll see how that goes.

Morning All

Thanks for the start scarlett, hope the carpet cleaning goes well.

Brrr, cold and frosty this morning, will probably have to scrape the car. I have my winter boots at the ready and some gloves, my hands were frozen yesterday.

You seem to be doing so well Nelski, don't overdo it!
Hope you're feeling better again this morning dumpling.

Work is a bit strange at the moment, we have a change of management coming up so it's all a bit uncertain but not any less busy! I come home absolutely worn out and don't seem to get anything done in the evenings.

Right, off for a swim, hope you all have a good day. I keep hoping tru will come back for the Christmas Carols. Take care. XX

Morning all DS dropped at the  airport and just waiting till its light to walk the dog its cold but not icy or foggy like yesterday. We are off to my uncles funeral today my cousin has been posting pics of her dad and mine when they were young makes me quite tearful at times still i do remember all the good times we had together .
Right better get a shifty on i need to wrap the xmas gifts for my cousins children as i am not sure when we will see them before xmas as they all live way up the country from us and not sure if they are taking Auntie home with them.

Morning all

Cold here again this morning but I dont think there is a frost which is better. off to work for me and down to my cafe for a few hours, its a really nice group of clients in today so should be fun.

Mum cooked us a hunters chicken for dinner last night so the egg and bacon etc will do us for tonight, I have my parcel to collect as well so will do that on the way home.

Porr dd worked a 13 hour day yesterday and got in just after 9 last night she was shattered so is not up yet, she might be going in a bit later this morning.

Still not wrapped any presents it might have to be Saturday now as by the time ive had a bath after work and cooked dinner and cleared up im fit for nothing !

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET.  Happy carpet cleaning!  Brr it's a parky one this morning. I forgot to put the wheelie out last night so went out earlier and by heck it's cold!  Carol says some of us will get snow at the w/e. Brrr!!

We ended up having a very extended day out yesterday and didn't get home until about 6.30.  I went straight up to get in my pj's and snuggly big dressing gown and fell asleep on the sofa! Surprisingly I still managed to get to sleep when I dragged myself up to bed and have had a reasonable night.

So, after 2 days of gallivanting, jobs await me today. Kitchen and bathroom clean are top of the list. Also the fridge to sort out and clean in readiness for my Te*co delivery this afternoon. 

Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones and convalescents. Onwards and upwards NELS and DUMPLING.   BELLA I hope the funeral goes as well as these sad occasions can do. Take care all and stay safe xx

Morning all. 

I haven't looked out the window yet as it's still pitch black out there but it's so cold. 

Yesterday passed in a peaceful and relaxing flash. I stood for ages at my kitchen window twice - first time watching a beautiful woodpecker on the peanut feeder and then again when a gorgeous wee robin was underneath the sunflower feeder pecking at the crumbs. These little moments gave me lots of pleasure. 😀

In the afternoon I had a call to say that my new wood burner had arrived at the shop. The chap will bring it down and swap it with the current one next week sometime. That gave me more pleasure. 😀 I don't need more heat output but more capacity for wood, this one needs too much feeding as the internal box is small. 

No idea what today will bring. I must get more ruthless in my laptop declutter. I got caught up in looking at photographs of my time in work trips to South Africa and Jordan and various holidays going back years and years. Lovely memories came flooding back, perhaps I'll do more of the same today. 

Camelot - still loch swimming? Brrrr, it'll be beyond 🥶 
Bella - glad that DD got off OK. 
Scarlet - hope that the big clean goes smoothly.

Just a quick good morning from me as I'm almost off to work and I need to change a couple of things on my Tesco order before I go. I've noticed price increases on quite a few things I buy regularly.
No frost this morning but it's to be very cold all day - we're forecast snow showers tomorrow and Saturday.
Can anyone tell me how to cook pork fillet? I'd like to try it but have no idea what to do with it.

Morning everyone freezing here this morning dog has been walked I’ve had my porridge and ready for work.we are getting the new fence today it will be just in time high winds are forecast over the weekend and the old fence can not cope it would definitely blow down and then that is it until I can replenish the savings and get a few more jobs done next year hope all the poorly folk are feeling a bit better today stay safe and well everyone have a good day whatever you are doing

Bit of a lie in and a shower this morning which of course takes forever

Good session with the physio yesterday. She was pleased with my progress and seemed to become more human than in the unit. She wanted to get her sidekick the lovely Gary to put my Christmas tree up. Politely declined as 24th November is way too early for me. They promised to return when its reasonable. As expected she gave me a load more exercises to crack on with a few of which were impossible atm for me but with practise should build some strength. One involves from sitting keeping arms  crossed over chest and stand up. I could almost hear my thighs laughing. I love a challenge so bring it on. I know I could have done this easily not that long ago so I will do it again.

Leftover pizza and garlic bread for dinner no idea what delights await me for tonight I must get back into planning
