I’ve searched on here and last time this was asked about appears to be 2011. So I am sure there is a lot more to consider now. My grandson has asked for a gaming computer for Christmas and my son and DIL want it so it also allow him to do his homework etc.
I understand the expensive part of a gaming computer is a graphic card. That’s all we know! Can anyone point us in the right direction for one please?
Many thanks.

You haven't given any indication of budget, but this being a money saving website i will go low end.. i have included some examples. The absolutely lowest you will get away with, including monitor, mouse, keyboard etc is probably in the order of £750 and that's with AMD integrated graphics.Bumping up to the next tier, with a low and graphics card your over £1000.I would actually recommend just getting an xbox with game pass for the gaming, and you could buy a reasonable laptop and still be around £750https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/dell-inspiron-156-fhd-i5-1035g1-8gb-ram-512gb-ssd-laptop-ps40236-with-code-delivered-at-dell-3833014

£750 to £1,000+ for a Christmas present for a 9.5 year old even if it does help him with his homework.
I was clearly born at the wrong time.
I was 9.5 years old in 1961 and I did my homework on paper.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".1 -
Which reminds me. I need to get a birthday present for my 11 year old great niece.
Her Mum says she is really into frozen stuff so I will get her some peas and chips from Iceland.A man walked into a car showroom.

Chips are not veggies - Try carrots - cabbage - green beans and cauliflower to go with the peas - Remeber 5 a dayAre we sure it is the child that wants the computer, Back in the 80s my kids gave me a long list of the advantages of a computer - homework included - and Yes I fell for it even knowing it would be games. In my case one of my sons finished up living and working in Hollywood doing special effects - but unless he has ambitions and understanding parents for all the years of college and study don't waste your money at that age.

What do Breasts and Toy Train Sets have in common?
They're both intended for children but it's usually the father that plays with them the most!

Many thanks.Depends what sort of games wants to play.Minecraft, no biggie, a budget laptop will do that. For something a bit more meaty like maybe F1 2021 or simulation games like Cities:Skylines... well a lot depends on your budget.0 -
