Employer offering Severance package

Options
To cut a long story short, I've been in a battle with my employer trying to get flexible working after I came back from maternity and shielding due to me having a genetic disorder and a stroke survivor. I went back doing my normal long days hrs and was struggling really bad I actually ended up in hospital. I have asked for reduced hours but employer says this is not possible due to nature of the business. My sick note ends this week and I was planning on handing in my notice but received email from employer with severance package of three months pay, I have to sign it by Thursday. Not really sure what to do here.

Thanks in advance

Either resign and work your notice. Or accept the offer made. Then find alternative employment.

Get your sick extended, the stress from them wanting to get rid of you.

How long have you worked there?

3 months could be good or rubbish.

  • I've worked for for years
  • I am not sure I can extend my sick note as I have been given until tomorrow to respond
  • You were planning to hand in your notice. Your employer is giving you a package of 3 months pay. Is that not a result for you. How many years have you worked for employer?

1 week pay for 1 year is normal and work your notice. How does that compare with the offer ?

You were planning to hand in your notice - your employer is offering you more money than you would have got that route. Sounds good to me.  Worth discussing an agreed reference for when you find new work that suits you better.

May be worth informally saying if they make it 4 months you'll accept. They may say no room for change but quite often there is.

To be honest, this will be contractual notice pay, I would extend sick and let them dismiss you, you will get the three months notice pay anyway probably, check your contract. Most employees think they are getting a good deal, but they want you off the books quickly and are giving you want you would be getting anyway....up to you.
