Should the deal be honoured

I saw a really good cruise price over the weekend, called the agent advertising it, and went through everything. The agent I spoke to confirmed that the deal was correct and took he deposit.
I have just received a call to give me the cabin information and when I queried that it was for an inside cabin, rather than the balcony I had discussed, I was told that the offer in the brochure was incurrect and despite me checking this with the original agent, they would not honour it. They are offering me to either pay the difference to upgrade to a balcony or transfer my deposit. Do you think they should honour the booking or at least arrange for the deposit to be returned to me?
I am really disappointed as this was a well known travel agent and my first booking with them.

A deposit refund sounds reasonable if they listen to the call recording and it confirms the agent did state that it was for a balcony room.
Read the T&Cs, most cover the risk of misprints etc and will state the resolutions offered in such circumstances0 -
Do you still have a copy of the offer? That will help if they argue
I agree with the above - if you were told Balcony on call then a Deposit refund should be offered0 -
If you have no confirmation invoice, then there probably isn't a contract under the terms of most companies and unless you were due to travel in the next 14 days, they may have no legal obligation to honour the balcony cabin. However, if they refuse they may be committing a criminal offence of giving a misleading price indication, this would be a matter for Trading Standards, and wouldn't automatically get you what you want, but many decent travel agents, and we don't know whether your falls into that category or not, would try and avoid the potential fall out and cost of an investigation.1

Thanks all. I sent an email with a copy of the offer and the receipt and they have agreed to refund the deposit. I am just waiting for it to be processed.
