Shark vaccum

So I've had a shark lift away for a few years now and it's been great. However the lower duct hose split so had to replace it. I decided to do this myself and ordered a new hose through Ebay. My sharks model number is NV681UKT 40. The add on ebay stated that the hose would fit a variety of models including NV681. I took this to be the same model as mine but when the hose arrived, it was too big. When I contacted the seller they stated that my model number was not the same as they had advertised. I tried looking it up and I believe the NV stands for navigator, the 681 is the base unit number and the UKT I think refers to different features. Im not sure what the 40 is? So my question is this - is the model number of my hoover (NV681UKT) the same as NV681?

The seller is telling me I will have to pay for return postage which will cost half of what I paid for the hose. I don't mind doing this if it is my mistake but not if they have falsely advertised this item. Some insight would be much appreciated!

Yes the NV680/681 is the same unit. The UKT simply refers to the pet model with which you get an extra tool but everyting else is the same. I assume you didn't purchase the hose from Shark then?

Do you mean the small hose that connects between the head and the main body? If so, I don't think Shark sell that as an official part which means anything you buy would be aftermarket.

Do you have a link to the ebay  item?
  • Unfortunately I can't share the link, this is my first time posting. But yes that's the part I need

With the power switch on the handle set to hard floors does the brush still turn on the floor head when in use. Try connecting the handle directly to the floor head to test the suction. If it still doesn't work then you have a blockage or the ducting you've fitted isn't connected properly. As mentioned, we could really do with some pics, if you're able to post them.

Have you cleaned the filter recently? I came across a Shark vac recently where the user hadn't cleaned the filter for ages and its suction was therefore greatly reduced, so it sucked stuff in but didn't have enough suction to take it all the way to the container where it should have gone.

The result was that the entire thing was blocked with compressed fluff and dirt, all the way from top to bottom. It wouldn't pick up at all and once about a litre of compressed fluff and dirt had been poked out from every tube  and the filter had been cleaned it worked like new!
