O/S Daily Tuesday 23 November 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, dry underfoot but air temperature has really dropped.
DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/rice and/or veg. Made the base of a shepherds pie, and pots in fridge so just need boiling and mashing, so will put the base in the oven to heat through whilst I cook and mash the potatoes then it'll only need 20-30 mins in oven.
Work wasn't too bad, still the same mess that was there before I was off. Been asked to fill in and help out yet again as they don't have enough staff although they have now advertised so hopefully that should help.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Dry this morning and cold but no frost, took me ages to clear the car yesterday, it was -0.5 when I went swimming at 6.30. Not sure I'll be going this morning as I've had a bit of a dickie tummy.
What a shock for you dp1, hope the little one is OK now.
Sounds like you had a good shopping day Ruby, I would have thrown the towel in after a glass of wine!
Glad you're settling in again Nelski, take your time.
Hugs to those in need.
Busy old day at work yesterday, hoping for another today as the day goes by in a flash. Washing on the pulley, and house reasonably clean and tidy. I have some more gifts to wrap later (I'm with you Ruby, really don't like that job!). Then it's the Bake Off final if I can stay awake.
Have a good day, take care. XX14 -
Morning folks. No frost here either so it's a tad milder. Yesterday I had the wood burner on all day which made me so cosy. The cleaner came in the late morning so I managed a quick trip into town before she came. No shopping 😀 just dropping off rubbish at the tip, collecting some meds from the pharmacy and cash from the bank and I was back home.Once the cleaner had left I began to clear off stuff from my laptop. That involved doing a backup which was fairly quickly done but then I decided to delete old documents and got totally caught up in reading them first - not fast at all though fascinating. All my afternoon slipped away. This morning I'm off down to Glasgow for a last minute dental appointment, I'll be coming straight back home as I don't want to drive up in the dark. Now I must get ready, I washed my hair over the kitchen sink yesterday to avoid doing it in the shower this morning, it's too cold to go out with wet hair.Happy Tuesday to all. 🌺16

Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.
It's cold but dry, not a bad morning.
Izzybee, I've seen my Ds come back from a tuff mudder bleeding and covered in mud, why do they do it! Must be because it's nice when they stop!
I'm going into Newcastle to meet Dil, she's off this week, so I'll take my list of things still to buy for Christmas. I'll be home by late afternoon though.
Hope our poorly people are improving a bit, thinking of Nelski and Dumpling, also DP1's little granddaughter.
Take care folks.15 -
Morning all
Very cold here this morning it was a struggle to get out of bed ! I expect the cars will have a frost on too. Off to work for me - roll on Ist Dec when my four day weeks start !
Ive got something to collect from the post office after work, its a christmas gift and our postie usually leaves them in the car port but this was an expensive gift so I want to be sure to collect it myself.
Cauli cheese tonight which is already made so just needs heating through with gammon steak for OH and I and veggi sausages for dd so a nice easy dinner.
DW to empty this morning and a quick tidy round of the lounge.
Have good days all and stay warm xxx14 -
Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Steve went and bought himself new boots yesterday, £250, I doubt if they will fit. He usually buys the wrong size.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.Chin up, Titus out.13 -
Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. No frost here either this morning but doesn't feel much warmer for it.
Yay it's Tuesday so coffee and lunch meet up again with oldest buddy. Despite meeting up every week we still find plenty to waffle on about.
Yesterday I dealt with all the money cards for the Gt nephews and nieces that I buy for, plus the DGC of friends. I usually buy them all gifts but decided to go down the easy route this year and just give money to save much trailing around. I then decided to carry on and write all the Christmas cards as well whilst I was at it. I've never done them this early before! They are now ready and waiting to be handed out/posted in a couple of weeks.
I still have all the presents to wrap (or bag) but want to wait until I have bought everything before I do that. I started off in fine fettle and have since ground to a halt. It doesn't help that we have such a dire selection of shops left here and, like last year, I am ordering most gifts on line. I can't cope with trawling round big shopping centres these days.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones and pets, and convalescents. It's lovely to have you back with us every day NELS. It's boding well for the spa opening again next year! Take care one and all and be safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"15 -
Morning all - hugs and healing thoughts to all poorlies.
Cold here and not light yet although sky is showing faint light in the East.
I didn't do anything with big chest freezer yesterday instead decided I was fed up with storage jars taking up nearly all of the available working area in kitchen so decide it was time to do cupboards and removed quite a few out of date items - the downside of having a chronic health problem that can go into a flare for years is I buy in with best of intensions to use then flare hits and whatever sits unused in cupboard or occasionally fridge as DH is not a cook and refuses to learn, although loves watching cookery programmes on TV. He also has I am sure Asperges and has texture issues so even making a sandwich is something that he hates if what has to be used is something he cannot bear feel of and refuses to just use tools instead of fingers - left to himself (when I am stuck in bed) he lives out of cans and breakfast cereal.
Anyway, now have some space to work in kitchen again, although more cupboards to do but they are ones that contain items that do get used regularly (cans/breakfast cereals) so no out of date things lurking in their depths.
Have my diabetic blood test today at noon - made the appointment a month ago and this was first free date. So hopefully shower soon then gentle housework before I go then hopefully take girls for a walk in the park by the health centre afterwards but as sky is becoming lighter there is a definite redness now so will just have to see. Not sure what rest of day as depends how I feel. I managed to cut out some PJs a few weeks ago but not been up to sewing them together yet so fingers crossed today will be the day I do.
Hope you all manage to do all you need today and stay healthy and well.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Hi everyone,
I woke with a horrible headache despite taking painkillers when I woke with it in the middle of the night. I've just taken some more so hopefully it will be better soon. I got some mince out last night to make a cottage pie to take to Laura's and also a batch of chilli for the freezer.
The journey back from Yorkshire was uneventful, we always stop at Blythe services and it was very noticeable how few people are wearing masks now, only about 10% I would estimate. The news keep talking about surging cases in Europe without saying that we've had higher cases than most countries for weeks on end plus over 1000 deaths a week, I don't know how people can be so blasé about it.
Steve's gone off to play golf to see how his vision copes, unfortunately he is still having problems with his left eye. Now the cataract has gone the problems he was having before his first operation have come to the fore again. I think he's going to have to learn to live with it but he's finding it difficult. This afternoon he's having his first post treatment blood test with a telephone consultation tomorrow. They are still doing the blood tests in a car park north of Cambridge so I hope the cold doesn't skew some of the results which it had a tendency to do earlier in the year. Then we're heading down to Laura's, the traffic on Wednesday mornings is getting worse each week so at least we'll be there early if we go tonight.
I hope dumpling, Nelski, et al are as well as can be expected, take care in the cold.
Have a good day.14 -
Good morning all, cold and frosty here again, very pretty pink sky.
Sending get well vibes to all that need one, Snoozer, Nelski, dpi's little GD, Dumpling thinking of you particularly.
I will probably walk into town this morning, out of several salad items and thinking of postposing SM delivery for a few days, well stocked on most things, although need to check what, if anything, we need for Christmas, going to be very low key again, which suits us both.
DearDog had a better day yesterday, meds seemed to be working so tum a little better, she spent a large part of the day outside "helping" OH collect the prunings as they fell from the tree he was working on - mostly thin twiggy bits, her favourite things are her ball, rope toy and any old bit of twig or grass that she can find as retrieve items LOL. ABs and Steroids to be collected from Vets today and scan arranged for Friday.
Not sure about food today, probably should be the pork tenderloin from fridge, I bought a Ninja Grill which we love, haven't used the oven in 4 months, but still experimenting with it, thinking of stuffed and rolled, roasties, veg etc. and of course gravy for me.
Take care all.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)13
