Mature student loan

Hi,
my stepdaughter was 20 when she applied and was accepted into university in 2020  - she had been living with her sister and family from the age 18 - 20 prior to that she lived with her mum and her father paid child support up to the age of 18 - she had been working in retail to contribute to that household with her sister - Her father and I have been paying £450 a month towards her accommodation at uni for the last 1.5 years and will be paying that for the next 2.5 years until she finishes college . My question is, was it right that myself and my husband ( my step daughters father ) were assessed by the university to contribute to her student loan or should she have been assessed as a mature student and qualified for a bigger loan ? Thankyou
