Replacement Gas Boiler - help!

We have a Johnson and Starley gas boiler and warm air heating system. We need a new boiler.
We can get an updated version of our existing boiler - but with gas being phased out by 2030.
We don’t know what to do.
I’ve just been quoted £18-£20k to have an air heat source pump and wet system installed. We simply can’t afford it.
we can just change the boiler - costing £4 - £5K. More affordable but worried that in 2030 we’ll have to rip it out anyway.
We are both near retiring age - so our income is going to be much reduced.

Can anyone offer us advice or point us in the right direction?
Thank you!

Fit a new gas boiler…no one’s going to make you rip out an existing boiler, the plan is that, as with electric cars, they will become cheaper as technology and costs come down,1

As I understood the situation, gas is not being phased out in 2030. The installation of new gas boilers will not be allowed after 2030 which is something completely different.1

Thank you both - that’s great advice0

I meant to say the air/ground source heat pumps will , supposedly be cheaper, the aim is to make them the same as a conventional gas boiler is now0
