II have launched an offer where for an extra £5/month you can 'gift' up to 5 other people small GIA or ISA accounts with valuations up to £30k with no trade credits but they can use the regular investing feature for free. Once they go above £30k they would move onto the normal charges. I doubt this will be very popular but II will hope to take on smaller customers who would be uneconomic on the existing charges and who might in time grow into bigger ones without needing to bribe them to leave another platform with cashback deals. As usual the II strategy seem to be more about servicing their needs for user growth and more revenue than making things simple for the customer but I guess it might work for some people.
