British Gas questions: do they sent monthly meter reading requests?

I've been moved to BG due to the demise of another supplier. When they sent the tariff rates, they were exactly the same for DD and cash/bank transfer etc. so it isn't always the case that DD is cheaper with BG.0

But I must warn you, it may not last. BG update their site every weekend I think early Sunday mornings, and your access may be impossible after any update they perform.

The British Gas default tariff is certainly cheaper if paid by DD, rather than on receipt of bill by cash/cheque.

+1 for what @t0rt0ise said. Whilst it is usually the case that DD tariffs are cheaper, for the British Gas recent SoLR tariffs they have kept the same rates for DD or cash/cheque. The tariff for People's Energy is called "The Peoples Tariff" and can be looked up here: Energy - Gas & electricity quotes (britishgas.co.uk)
@BlondeHeadOn not sure if you've seen it but BG have a FAQ page for People's Energy customers here Peoples Energy - British Gas which may have answers to some of your questions. It's a good idea to enter meter readings once a month whether BG ask for them or not. Be advised they might not bill you until handover readings are verified which make take some time yet.0 -
Just got a message headed Your bill is overdue. Then goes on to say your bill is now due and log onto to pay the bill. I go into the BG account and says no bills are due yet. Make of that what you will!1

Hello All,
Newbie here.
Sorry for reopening this post but I was wondering if someone could help me out, please.
I have British Gas send me a meter reading reminder today but when I spoke to them last month, the customer service agent said it is best to give the reading on the last day of the month or 30th. This is sot to stop having estimated billing being produced and any kWh energy unit rate being carried over from one month to another and distorting the amounts I need to pay. I'm on monthly billing cycle, if it helps.
Many thanks,

Put a reminder in your doary - dont eait for BG.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

Many thanks,
MoneyPlutoMy stepdaughter is on variable DD monthly billing and gets a request to submit a reading by the 18th of a month at latest and her bills are produced around 19th of month but covering the period from the last reading she gave to the date of the latest reading (eg she submitted March reading on 13th March and April reading on 16th April and the bill covered those two dates even though that wasn't strictly a full month).Didn't your email requesting a meter reading also give a date by which to submit it like this:"So we can generate an accurate bill for you and make sure you only pay for the electricity you use, can we please have your meter reading before 12 noon on 18/04/2022."0
