This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, wet underfoot and rain forecast for thee day. Air temperature has really dropped.
DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast chicken etc enjoyed by us all. Dinner tonight will be fish.
Back to work today, I'll see what's been happening whilst I've been off. Time off was lovely and much needed.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Another cold one here with more sun to cushion the blow. I've had another reasonable night only to be woken up with a cat trampling all over me at 6.00 a.m.
Yesterday went off plan (AGAIN!!) and the neglected jobs from Saturday are still waiting so maybe today's the day!! It ended up a day of much coming and going from family. DS came to fix my dripping kitchen tap (when did taps get so complicated that h & c filters had to be taken out and cleaned!!) Meanwhile the 2 middle DGDs had appeared, middle one waiting for her lift to Renaissance and younger one staying for lunch and here till DD finished work. By mid afternoon my life was my own but far too late to be starting jobs!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones, poorly pets and those convalescing. DP1 your DGD is a brave little soldier, but what a worry for you and DD. I hope all goes well. MADDIE I hope you can get good news from the vet and dear doggy can stay with you a while longer. Onwards and upwards for NELS, NRA's dad and DUMPLING. Take care one and all and stay safe xx

Good morning and thanks for starting NMLC, I'm pleased that you enjoyed your time off. Hope work is not too awful.Yesterday started off fine but soon deteriorated into heavy showers, cold as well. Can't expect too much at this time of year I suppose..We went over to Ds's in the afternoon to deliver Dil's card and present for today, Ds had just returned from running a half marathon in North Northumberland, he said they were running in hail storms part of the time, must be mad!I started doing a bit of the lavender bags that dgd and I are making, We'll continue this afternoon when I collect her from school. She loves a lavender bag, so does dd.We are going for a hairdo this morning, nothing else planned.Nelski, hope you've settled in back at home and that you're coping ok.Thinking of our other poorly and/or sad people, take care folks..12

Morning all
Bitterly cold here this morning and a frost on the cars I think. We had a good shopping day yesterday and I got most of what I wanted, so I think just two more gifts to buy, we had a lovely Tapas lunch in the lanes and I fortified myself with two glasses of rose, certainly made the shopping easier in the afternoon !
Off to work for me only two more full weeks before I drop down to four days, I cant wait five days is just too much as I am constantly shattered.
DD has the day off today so will cook something for dinner, maybe the chilli we did not have yesterday as we were still too full. DW to empty this morning and I shall put a wash on.
I need to buy some wrapping paper as its dd's Birthday Sunday I really dont enjoy wrapping so I try to put it off as long as possible.
DP1 how scary for you all I hope little one is recovered and ok xxx
Have good days all xxx13 -
Morning folks.A quick dip in from me, mostly to send hugs to Dp1, her DD and her GDG - what an horrific time for the family. It's wonderful that all came good eventually. 🎉 Great 'bounce back' comment from the little one. 😀
Its even colder than yesterday morning so I'm still snug under my duvet apart from my right arm, I'll finish now and stick my arm back.Thoughts to all our poorlies, missing and those recovering. Happy Monday to all.14 -
Morning all
Beautiful day forecast again here but cold so cold.
Had a peaceful Sunday watching some catch up then Adele and the start of the jungle
Also moving as much as I can with annoying reminders set on my watch. My terrorist will be proud
Christmas movies are my guilty secret again shhh… don’t tell anyone. Mrs Miracle yesterday seen loads of times but it’s so lovely
Everything taking a frustrating amount of time to complete now but better slow than back in trouble again. Need to venture into the shower today my hair is like rats tails. Will start unpacking my bags but no mad rush to do anything which is good as I fully expect to see snails overtaking me anytime soon
Last night I had a hot beef sandwich with gravy and onions horseradish salad and some crisps. All very tasty. Today I’m fancying a prawn and cockle cocktail with brown bread I found a pack of prawns in the freezer enough for a chilli garlic pasta tomorrow too.
DP1 How awful for you all. Hope your DGD is well today you must be so worried x
Maddie fingers crossed for your furry friend
Have a good day all and wrap up well

Hi everyone,
dp1, how traumatic for your DD and the little one. I hope the medication helps.
The antibiotics I am on after an initial improvement no longer seem to be doing any good, I may have to call and get some different ones which is a pain. It has taken 3 attempts in the past to get one which works.
We're packing up to go home this morning, hopefully the cleaning won't take long because it was spick and span (not heard that phrase for a while) when we arrived. It's very reassuring to know the cleaners are so good even when we aren't here.
Have a good day.

Good morning everyone
Thank you all for your good wishes for little one - I haven't heard from DD yet this morning, and don't want to disturb them - hopefully they've both slept.
It's to be very cold here all week but sunny too - I don't start work till lunchtime so don't have to venture out for a while yet.
I'm planning to start wrapping Christmas presents this morning - I now have paper and pretty shiny ribbon. I still have a few things to buy but have a list now so know what I need to get. Completely stumped by my grown-up nephew so it will have to be an amazon voucher - asked his mum yesterday and she said she doesn't know what to get him either.
A lady in our town organised a scheme for people to donate winter coats, hats, scarves and boots which was then all free to collect by anyone who could use it. DD and I went on Saturday morning and little one came home with a lovely thick snowsuit, wellies, a coat and a couple of scarves and hats - she was wearing one with a pom pom almost bigger than her head! Not just childrens stuff - men and women too - DD got herself a coat. Such a brilliant idea!
I was talking to the lady whose idea it was and she's hoping to do it again next year, so I said I'd keep the coats little one grows out of to donate back.
Well I'd better move myself - bathroom to clean as towels should dry outside today. Then I'll make a start on my wrapping.
Hope everyone has a good day
Nelski it's lovely to see you again - it must be so nice being able to choose your own meals again - I don't suppose you got a prawn cocktail in hospital!14 -
When I eventually crawled out of bed I saw that there was thick frost outside, it almost made me shoot back under the duvet but here I am, all dressed and ready for the day. Got some thermals on underneath main clothes and I'll light the fire soon. I think my cleaner is coming so I don't want the place too cold for her. When she's here I'll take my rubbish to the tip and go to the bank.Snoozer - sorry to read that your ABs aren't working, I hope that you can get it sorted soon and then begin to feel better.DP1 - thanks for news on GDG.Nelski - you're so right about lack of sleep and good food in hospital. It's not a good atmosphere for recuperating.14
