COVID and SSP

Options
Hi there,

I was told by my employer to self-isolate a few weeks ago now, as I worked alongside somebody who tested positive for Covid. I have since received my pay-slip, for that period, and I haven't been paid for the first three days. Is this correct?

I'll add that I am working a 3mnth probation period and had only been working there for just over a week, before being told to take the time off.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Gary Moore

The three day waiting period does not apply, yet, to COVID related SSP, defined in:

    https://www.gov.uk/statutory-sick-pay

It is not specifically stated that someone self isolating because of a work colleague is covered, but if your employer asked you to self isolate, it seems unfair to be penalised in this way.

If you are in a probation period, whether it is wise to press on this point may be debatable.
