    If I don't buy my own, I buy the white marzipan from Waitrose, which tastes better than most of the others. I wouldn't use fondant on Christmas cake (it needs tooth-breaking royal icing!) but when I make cakes for personal consumption I'd also make my own fondant. However, it is time-consuming, so if the decorative effect is most important and I'm not going to eat it, I'll buy fondant (and also buy it ready-coloured).
