JustPark App - Lloyds Bank rejecting payments

In my area (Dorset) most of the public car parks accept the JustPark payments, so I’ve been almost exclusively using the JustPark App to pay for my parking. I hardly ever have coins these days.

In the past couple of weeks or so, whenever I’ve parked and tried to pay with JustPark on my phone, I keep getting a ‘Payment Declined’. Yesterday the car park machine was out of order and not accepting cash, so I had to phone JustPark which is very long winded and pay a service fee. This was accepted.

All my bank details are correct on the App, so it doesn’t make sense that I can pay by phone but not via the App.  Anyway, I phoned the Lloyds Bank customer services today and asked if they’d put a block on my Visa Debit card with JustPark (bearing in mind that the account is in plenty of credit).

The reply was that they’ve had a lot of customers complaining of the same situation. I was informed that Lloyds Bank is rejecting JustPark transactions because JustPark isn’t correctly performing the security verification.

I’ve sent JustPark a message regarding this, asking them to look into it and informing me of the outcome. It will be interesting to see if they bother to reply!

Has anyone else come across this situation with Lloyds or any other bank?

Very, very interesting.  We have had a couple of recent cases with standing payment arrangements for daily parking via JustPark suddenly not going out, including one with multiple 'fines' issued by NCP which we had to get the Head of the AOS, Sara Roberts at the BPA, to investigate and resolve.

Can you please ask your bank to send you an explanation of what is happening by email, and then can you send it to Sara Roberts at the BPA and say the good folk at MSE sent you to tell her about this, because it might explain the recent issues with various parking firms including one with NCP that she kindly resolved.

A hearsay phone call isn't enough but if you could get Lloyds to confirm the issue by email, telling them you want to tell the British Parking Association about it but need the facts set out, then you could do a lot of people some big favours if you would be happy to then send it to:

    sara.r@britishparking.co.uk

Do mention our involvement.  The BPA do take us seriously and I often have interaction with them.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
