Advice re unexpected trade waste

Have you tried contacting the council to dispose of it? I know ours will, for a reasonable fee (£30?), take away 3 pieces of furniture or appliances. It saves them having to not clear up after fly tipping.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Advertise it on local media such as Gumtree, Freecycle, Facebook. Lots of building projects underway at present. My local Gumtree has several ads for free rubble and rubble wanted.0

I live in Scotland (Fife). Our Household Waste and Recycling Centres Accepted Materials page says soil and rubble are accepted at all sites (as are empty gas cylinders). The only waste not accepted is asbestos and tyres.Alderbank said:
If you take it to the household refuse site yourself you avoid paying the charge. No so, such things are chargable and all waste sites I am aware of. If they do it's the council being generous? Seems unlikely these days.
Is it not the same in England? Scots are not famous for being generous

Our HWRC takes rubble, plasterboard etc. as well as asbestos and tyres from householders. There's no charge. I'm in Wales now, but the same arrangements applied when I lived in England a few years ago. Have things changed recently?
It seems to me that a council which refuses to accept household waste of a particular type without charge is absolutely guaranteeing somebody will fly-tip it!0 -
Our rubble goes into a skip and is recycled simply by being sold on. It doesn't need any processing. Why would the Council turn this down?0

Here in Lincolnshire, our home waste centres will take pretty much anything apart from car parts and tyres.0

It depends whether they have a market for it. If nobody wants to take the rubble (for free/paying a nominal amount) then the council has to spend money getting rid of it. Do you know how your council manages to sell the rubble they collect?Alderbank said:

And one of the problems with DIY 'rubble' is it can contain all kinds of contaminants. It only takes one person tipping some bits of broken asbestos into the skip and you then have a skip full of contaminated waste, not rubble.

One dump I want to charges according to this schedule

I ended up paying £5 to get rid of some old guttering that I could have sawn up and slipped into the dustbin. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
ouch.....we did a DIY renovation a few years back. Full rip out. 3 lwb transits loads were taken to local recycle centre. They were not happy lolGDB2222 said:One dump I want to charges according to this schedule
