Choosing a shower

Hello MSE'rs. Time for some advice again!

I am intending to retrofit a thermostatic bar valve shower (unvented tank being fitted) but I am torn between a £700 option (rain shower), and a £400 (Euphoria) option. The heads are the same, and the bar mixer, but one has cool touch and the other doesn't. That is the only difference I have found so far.

I am looking at Grohe (310 size heads) but the reviews are mixed. Has anybody bought one lately, and is the build quality okay? I understand they aren't metal anymore, but plastic coated in chrome?

If I purchase a good quality one, I will re-use it when the bathroom is replaced in a couple of years. I like larger rainfall-type shower heads.

Does anybody have recent experience with Grohe, or, does anybody have any shower suggestions? (Up to £750 although I also have other 'house' things required, so I would be happy if I could get quality for less and save some money).

Thank you

I fitted a Triton one for my DD a couple of years ago and it works fine, about £70 from Screwfix.
I don't think the expensive ones are any better, just prettier!

I chose Grohe when I had my bathroom refittied as I'd also chosen Grohe when I had a bathroom refit in my previous property & had been more than happy with the brand. I've also just recommended them to a friend having the current bathroom in her place ripped out & a shower installed in it's place.

Many reputable brands these days use cheaper materials to save on costs, but it doesn't necessarily mean it results in an inferior product. My Grohe shower is as good today as it was when new over 8 yrs ago.

The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Thank you Cattie. That's true, food for thought. Which shower do you have? (I'm exploring HansGrohe and keep changing my mind between the croma, or Grohe Rainshower.
