Currys Warranty

I recently bought a Hewlett Packard PC from Currys. As I was setting it up I received a notification from HP that my warranty had expired in July 2021. I thought this was rather strange as I purchased the PC this week. I typed the serial number of the product into the HP website and received a reply in big red letters that the PC had been sold by a third party.
I always though we had a manufacturers warranty as well as a warranty from the retailer. Was I wrong?

Warranties are always in addition to statutory rights and are fully optional. Statutory rights are predominately against the retailer rather than manufacturer.0

Reads to me as item may have been registered before .

Maybe Currys sold it to someone else previously and it was then returned by the customer?0

Take it back and get a refund; if it's had its warranty registered then it ain't new.

It came from Currys packed as if it was a new PC. I didn't see any evidence to make me suspect it had been used before.
