New car insurance estimates

Sorry if this has been asked before, but… Is there an easy way to get insurance estimates for cars you haven’t bought yet? Most online sites seem to demand registration numbers for quotes but as I haven’t bought a car yet I can’t provide these. I haven’t owned a car for about 8 years

Most you can tick a checkbox to say you dont know the registration yet and it changes to a series of drop downs to select make, model, mark etc. They'll quote on that basis but wont allow you to buy until there is a registration number.
Be aware that many insurers run counter fraud scripts though and getting a lot of quotes in quick succession with minor differences can result in premiums being loaded or insurers stopping quoting. Always best to do dummy quotes using ficticious data whilst in private/incognito mode of a browser and not logged into the aggregator etc.1 -
I don't think sites "demand" registration numbers, last time I looked it was pretty easy to put in details of model etc.1
