People's Energy > British Gas - a bit lost!

Hi MSE team - would appreciate your advice.

A few months ago, in my infinite wisdom, I decided to switch from Igloo Energy (dual-fuel tariff) to People's Energy to save circa £10 a month. Almost immediately, gas wholesale prices went haywire and 48 hours later, People's Energy went bust. Everything on this site advised me to sit tight - my switch to People's Energy would complete, but my electricity and gas would be supplier by the Supplier of Last Resort - British Gas.

My switch did complete - I got various emails welcoming me to People's Energy. According to Ofgem and my electricity DNO, my gas and electricity are supplied by People's Energy.

I have not head a whisper from British Gas, either by email or post, since this happened.

Yesterday I gave British Gas a call to find out what was going on. They had no record of any supply to my address. Speaking very kindly, they didn't seem to be in a capacity to advise me further. I thanked them and put the phone down.

Does anyone know what I should do? I'm guessing that British Gas are in such disarray at the moment that they don't know the wood from the trees - and that I should just sit tight, put aside money each month for what I would expect to spend on gas/electricity, and expect a large bill once British Gas realise I exist?

Thanks!

If the industry sites are showing you as with PE then BG will eventually pick up on it, they are likely wading through treacle at the moment !  Yes put the money away but you do realise it will likely be at a considerably higher amount than you were to be paying with PE ?  Just make sure you have copies of all documentation and meter read records regarding your supplies with both Igloo and PE and do regularly check the industry sites to see who they are showing as your supplier as you have the added complication of another SoLR, E.On Next, dealing with Igloo's accounts and you could get stolen.
