Really all depends what the dealer has in the car , as to what it owes them Then how popular the model and colour are  .
As said shortages and used car prices rising , might be up 1k next week .

..Pre covid I was getting offers of 10.5k for my Yeti, a few weeks ago it peaked at 17.2k, (what I paid for it 3+ years ago!!), Has now dropped back to 15.5k..

Even with the low stock levels, there may be some "give" in the price available to negotiate.  It is a case of understanding the value of the car to start with and what else the Dealer has in stock:
The main Dealer nearest me (not Volvo) is down to an empty forecourt, only 14 cars, but they are:
    • Model 1, 1 car
    • Model 2, 2 cars
    • Model 3, 1 car
    • Model 4, 7 cars
    • Model 4 XL, 2 cars
    • Model 5, 1 car

Negotiation might be more possible if looking for a Model 4 than anything else.

I am buying a second hand car at the weekend.  The car is from a dealership and priced on the forecourt at £36000.  How much discount or bargaining could I ask for to take the car from them?  Would say £35000 be the best I could achieve or more or less?
Dealers are operating on waifer thin margins right now as they're having to pay well over the odds for good stock.

As has been said, i cant imagine you;ll get anything off, so dont be offended and flounce out if they say no to an offer you make.

One thing i would say is, check autotrader across the whole of the UK mainland for the exact model and sort by price.   You might find there is significant price variance elsewhere in the country that might make a journey to get one worthwhile.

With the number of people that come on here complaining about having to drive all the way back to the dealers with a problem, are you sure about that last paragraph? ;)

Exactly what I did earlier in year.( Know prices have changed)
Not much room for money off as was a good price,Part ex was only couple of100 of motorway quote, they took mine on delivery of new one..
But got free delivery from Plymouth to Oxford, free mats/boot liner ,and they had filled up so good 3/4 tank of fuel.
With being pre reg and 6 months old didn't have to worry about return if anything wrong, was given local dealership details.

  • Bought the missus a December pre reg Skoda Kamiq SE L, 5 miles on the clock for  £18,800 checking autotrader the nearest equivalent (300 miles) is £23,600 on autotrader.

A new one in January could have been bought (ordered?) for £19,500ish
