The £8500 is in a joint savings account me and my mum names is on the savings account. I have told them on the claim forum for pension credit she has a savings account with that amount in it, but couldn't say on the online forum it was a joint account. When I rang them to say about the pension credit and was she entilited to it and said about the joint savings account they said only hlaf of that will be considered to be hers.

I wasn't sure to transfer the savings account to my other account but didn't want them to think she was trying to hide anything or fraud. So I told them about the amount she had in the joint savings account we have.calcotti said:
I skated over that to deal with the benefits advice, but I agree that it would seem better to separate the funds out into individual accounts.elsien said:Whose money is the £8500 in the joint account? It won’t affect her claiming housing benefit but it’s probably something you need to be clear about.

Just for accuracy, it wasn't me who posted about full CTax. I was querying whether a proportion would be payable by a non dependent and I'm grateful to you and @Alice_Holt for explaining that it wouldn't.calcotti said:
No, she gets Daily Living PIP so is exempt from non dependant deductions. (In any case, your post said OP would have to pay full Council Tax, not just that they would be expected to make a contribution.)Jude57 said:
But surely if OP is working, there would be a non dependent charge? So while mum may qualify for full CTR, OP would be expected to pay a contribution?calcotti said:
That is not correct. If Council Tax and tenancy are in mum’s name then she would still get full Council Tax Reduction.gwynlas said: If you do move back then you would need to pay full council tax.on a limited income0 -
