The V5 is NOT an ownership document. It even says "THIS DOCUMENT IS NOT PROOF OF OWNERSHIP" in large letters on a red background on the front page.Grumpy_chap said:
I read that to mean the V5 etc.GabbaGabbaHey said:

As others have said, V5 isn't an ownership document.Saus007 said:If we collect presumably we get change of ownership documents back in to my daughter;s name.
Unless I am wrong, the only proof of ownership is a bill of sale, but even that is sticky ground as you could have bought the car from someone else.
Not sure what single document shows who actually owns any vehicle.0 -
OP did you collect the car?
Did you phone PayPal? You need to point out to them that they do NOT cover cars and therefore need to reverse the payment.
How much money are we talking about?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

As the buyer did a chargeback (an S75 claim wouldn't have resulted in PayPal being charged) then the fact that car sales have no protection counts against the OP, not in their favour. If they were covered by seller protection and they followed the rules PayPal would swallow the cost.0 -
In fact looking at the detail on the link above it does look like OP can challenge the charge back in the resolution centre, so it does look like she has an option there0

The Sale of Goods Act does apply to private sales and typically requires the goods to match their description.cx6 said:The Sale of Goods Act 1979 has been largely superseded by the Consumer Right Act, but in any case neither apply to private individuals.
The buying having the car for 3 weeks before raising an issue may very well mean they don't have many rights but it completely depends upon what the advert says and what the buyer is complaining about.
If the buyer doesn't have any rights then OP should look to defend the chargeback and issue small claims for any losses that result.
Without a copy of the ad and knowing the buyer's complaint it's impossible to say whether the buyer's actions are reasonable.
