  • It’s too late now that you’ve re-signed a contract with them, but I’d avoid TalkTalk completely. I had a complaint in which I had to make an SAR in order to get the evidence to prove that I cancelled/gave notice to leave the contract and they were saying I didn’t. I took it to Ombudsman and won, but I suffered months of delay/stress etc and they were threatening black marks on credit file to say that the account wasn’t settled. Horrible company.

Thanks for all input. The "chat agent" on the TalkTalk website isn't working (for me, or for the phone agent I subsequently talked to) but that should be a work around I think, as the agent on the phone today said that a chat agent would be able to type the information I am requesting (ie just simply that a voucher amount of £130 is on their system).

Also, as I was talking to the phone agent she said "well you could put in a GDPR request for the initial conversation"... so I did, and it takes 30days to arrive through the letter box, on a usb stick.... which in itself is pretty bizarre - why can't they just send a file via email. What a waste of resources.

BTW, it's not too late for me to cancel the contract (as mentioned above) as I have 20days (or possibly 10 days as they sent equipment, I'm not sure). But I don't want to go through the hassle of that anyway if possible. - I'm happy with the deal, I just want an *accurate* written confirmation of what the deal is, that's all.
  • When I made my SAR it took less than 30 days, but did not include any of the phone calls I made. I should probably report them to the ICO for that but they’ll just state they don’t have any records of phone calls.

Because email is not a secure medium and I'm sure you wouldn't be happy about everything they have pertaining to you being intercepted by a third party.
