Balance transfer mistake

My husband did a 0% balance transfer with MBNA . Upon the amount coming out of the bank higher than expected he has looked and he has paid interest. When speaking  to them they have said he clicked the wrong button and clicked standard 29% Apr which is way higher than his previous bank. There is no way he clicked the wrong one because I talked him through it in front of me. This will now cause major hardship and they said they can do nothing . Even after we explained why would he take on more debt . Is there anything that can be done we both are having sleepless nights over this

You can either get another BT card and transfer it again, this time to 0%.

Or failing that (as he may find it difficult to get another card if his existing debt is causing hardship), BT it back to the original card and then back to MBNA, assuming the offer is still available. There'll be some fees, but it sounds like it would still be a better option than the current situation.

If all else fails, you'll need to ask them for an arrangement or default on the account.
