Brought a car not fit for purpose
My brother has recently brought an 2012 Audi S3 52,000 miles, Purchased October 1st 2021.
Since then he has the AA out twice for a flat battery.
Since then he has the AA out twice for a flat battery.
Since then the oil light has come on and after extensive investigations and diagnostics it has been highlighted as a faulty oil pump. Warranty has a limit £500. The car is unfit for purpose, unsafe to drive as it could burst into flames at any time.
Thank you

Where did he buy it from?0

10 year old car is going to have some issues. How much did he pay and where did he bring it from? Private or dealer?1

Take it to an independent garage, the A3 oil pump is a known problem, and a very easy fix, £200 ought to cover it if you aren't paying main dealer prices.I doubt if warranty would touch it- it is wear & tear.If it came from a proper dealer- take it back and see if they'll sort it, I guessing not as it has taken "extensive investigations & diagnostics" to decide on something google will tell you in a few seconds.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Normally, if there is a flat battery, the AA patrol will test the battery and if it is at end-of-life tell you so, allowing you to buy a new battery. If the battery was not end-of-life, then the battery simply needs a full charge. If the battery is going flat after that, then it points to another cause - I'd start by checking the alternator.
Have you sought to claim on the warranty for the battery and/or the oil pump?
Who did the "extensive investigations and diagnostics"?
Why do you say the car "could burst into flames at any time"?2 -
10 year old Audi is going to have some expensive issues. Being an Audi it's probably been hammered.0

But it has not done a lot of miles IF the reading is correct.[Deleted User] said:10 year old Audi is going to have some expensive issues. Being an Audi it's probably been hammered.0 -
2012 Audi S3 - That's almost a certain guarantee that it has been hammered. Also 52k over 9 years, really?

A flat battery (twice) sounds like it needs a new battery. Not unusual for a 10 year old car.
Oil pump. I'd be getting that sorted ASAP and if the warranty company arent playing ball i'd be talking to the supplying dealer and getting them to resolve it.
The "oil light" is an oil pressure light. Having low oil pressure even for a short time is very bad for the engine. You could wreck the engine by driving on at it and not having it resolved.
I doubt either issue would make the car "burst in to flames".1 -
Its an S3 though, so the performance variant with the Golf GTI equivalent engine. Not sure if its such an easy fix on that engine.facade said:Take it to an independent garage, the A3 oil pump is a known problem, and a very easy fix, £200 ought to cover it if you aren't paying main dealer prices.I doubt if warranty would touch it- it is wear & tear.If it came from a proper dealer- take it back and see if they'll sort it, I guessing not as it has taken "extensive investigations & diagnostics" to decide on something google will tell you in a few seconds.0
