Admiral charging fee after renewing insurance even though they didn’t have payment

I didn’t formally cancel my Admiral car insurance renewal because my card details had changed so they couldn’t take the money and I didn’t want to sit on the phone for ages. Despite this they continued the insurance for 2 weeks and have now billed me for £80. Do I have to pay?

Yes. If it was on a auto renewal & they have provided the service.

As a aside changing card details, does not stop the contract.

Policy has renewed and you are now in debt... no valid payment mechanism doesnt prevent the renewal, just adds non-payment fees... no intent to pay however is fraud and that will cost you much more than £80
