Renting after an IVA
Options
Hi,
I hope someone will be able to help. In 2017 I got into an IVA after raking up a hefty debt on multiple credit cards (I was very young and naive). In 2019 I was able to complete my IVA early and have been debt free ever since. I have not missed a payment for anything since the end of 2016.
I am currently living with my parents and am looking into renting a property, however, my IVA will be on my credit record until January 2023 even though I have completed it.
What are my options with renting? Do you think a potential landlord would be more willing to let me rent their property if they know I’ve completed the IVA or will I be rejected because it’s still on my financial record?
Thanks so much for your help

I went in to a rental agreement during my IVA. My IVA didn’t necessarily affect it as such but I did have to have a guarantor on the agreement, I believe the landlord is entitled to know your credit history and is made aware of any current or previous IVA’s if sat on the credit report. If you believe you can, you will. If you believe you can't, you won't.
