Parking signs - is there a minimum height limit?

I've recently been given a ticket by the council and the parking sign in the street is only about a yard off the ground. I didn't see it, probably because another vehicle in the street was parked in front of the sign blocking my view.
Simple question, is there a law parking signs have to be a minimum height? I've searched online and frustratingly, I can't find anything.

Have you taken any pictures of the sign?GSV would help as well. It'll help you when/if you get to adjudication
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Have a look at the Traffic Signs Manual, online.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

We deal with private tickets, for advice about council tickets go here

You never know how far you can go until you go too far.2 -
Don't ignore a council ticket - not that I'm suggesting you are in anyway. But they are a different kettle of fish and a generally fairer and more accountable and transparent system in terms of appealing. As been suggested revisit the site and take photographs (timestamp them) of any signage or obstructions to signage as you would do if it was a private ticket.1

Thanks for the replies. I've looked at the traffic signs manual and I can't see anything confirming a parking sign has to be a minimum height.
I can't go back to the street because I live in Cardiff and the street is Hull Road, Blackpool. I looked up the street on maps, which shows the parking sign about a yard above the ground. I wrote to Blackpool Council stating as the sign is very small, positioned at ground level with tiny font, not in eye line sight, can be easily hidden by other parked cars in the street blocking its view, positioned in a place difficult to view and read from a passing car; it's denied the sign is clearly displayed and capable of creating a legally binding contract.
I have an update, Blackpool Council have written back to me sending me a photo of the sign, which confirms everything I've said is correct with the position of the sign.
However, Blackpool Council are incredibly saying the sign is clearly displayed and I still have to pay. It's only £25, but it's very frustrating getting conned like this.
Do you think I should contest further, or shall I bite the bullet and pay the £25 for this one before the charge doubles?0 -
Continue if you wish. It's only a £25 risk.
And most council PCNs are refused at stage one (the games they play, dangling the carrot of the discount) but most cases go on to be conceded by the Council or won by the motorist in the end.
I presume you read their TRO and know what that means because that's what pepipoo posters would have told you to check, on your thread there where it was (rightly) recommended that you post instead.
