UW - Charity distributor

Hi.
I would just like to say, my partner is a utility warehouse distributer, and it appears that people are getting hold of the wrong end of the stick. First off, UW offer a service to all clubs trying to "FUNDRAISE".NOT registered charities. And they DON'T have to do any selling. Cinics can jump on the band wagon if they choose, however I found that having a mind of my own was preferrable to me. Check out the "Which" report on the Utility Warehouse. And if it's a con, how would they still be trading after so long when nobody is tied into a contract and therefore can leave at any time???

Welcome to the forum.
Presumably other people's negative experiences, opinions and advice about UW are invalid and/or unneccesary if you have a "mind of your own".
However even with a "mind of your own" you should take note of any favourable opinion expressed by Which.(incidentally I subscribe to Which and I am not aware of them praising UW for gas/electricity)
As for being a con, People are extraordinarily un-informed/gullible/lazy/indifferent about their Utility supplier.
Proof of that is the millions who have remained with British Gas on their Standard Tariff which used to be the most expensive available; and despite possibly the worst service in the industry.
So believing the sales patter and remaining with UW hardly indicates that they are all discerning customers.
Many of us simply dislike the ethos and selling tactics of UW in the same way as we dislike comparable companies using similar tactics to sell Tupperware, Avon Cosmetics etc.0 -

You introduced the word "con".....
But what would you call it when they have lied and lied for years about supplying the cheapest energy, and when the ASA told them to stop saying that they just ignored them.
Your partners friends who have signed up will have done so trusting that he wouldn't lie to them (as will all the reps friends who they have got to sign up).
You decide whether they've been conned.0
