New to Chromebook and still getting my head round it.  I've now got my entire music library copied to "Files", and they're a mix of mp3, m4a and m4p.  How do I go about playing them when it looks like the Chromebook doesn't want to know the m4a and m4p formats?  I see from searching that I could install iTunes, but I really couldn't be doing with the Linux required to do that.

Is there by any chance a good (preferably free) app which will show my 15GB of music files listed alphabetically by song title, and play any of them on the Chromebook irrespective of file type?
We're all doomed

    Try VLC for Chromebook..

I use it to play videos on a Windows10 laptop. It will also play most audio files such as mp3, flac etc.

I organise my video and music files alphabetically by artist on my laptop. I'm not sure if VLC will 'show my 15GB of music files listed alphabetically by song title'. You may have to think about how you store your music files.

There are probably other alternative music players for Chromebook.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

I thought you'd made a typo but it seems there really is an M4P format. :)

There are no typos, only happy little slips of the finger.
(but it would be typical of Apple to pick up M4P as a format due to so-called fat finger syndrome)
