i just had a look at a random Omega at £5370 on that site and within 30 seconds could find it elsewhere for £4260

Always good to look around for the best prices.

Cash is not King anymore, Goldsmiths probably make commission from the finance house, far outweighing any "discount for cash".

If I were spending c£5k on a watch I would want that from a legit dealer, I would want to inspect the watch before purchase etc, so for me online discount doesn't always cut it.
