monthly bills

Can someone tell me if debiting a credit card for monthly payments is the same as taking money out on it i.e.strictly no-no? I'm thinking of taking up the carphone warehouse talkmobile & getting cashback or tesco points-I've always used my current account to fund monthly payments by direct debit-would be grateful to be deconfused:confused:

  • Look up the terms and conditions of your card issuer. If you are non the wiser then ask them.
A lot of card companies now count betting transactions as cash advances, others the same if you buy gift vouchers.
Obviously you also need to ask CW whether they are able to accept credit card payments.

I have a pay as you go mobile and I top up at the local Spar using my Egg money credit card and up to now have not been charged.

Think long and hard before setting up a continuous payment authority (CPA) on a credit card.

  • hi there, not sure who I am replying to coz making my way around a forum is for me like trying to drive a car when you haven't been taught how to drive! I just hit different buttons & try to remember which ones work & which take me up a cul-de-sac, which is where I usually end up! If I've got it right then you must be yorkshire boy but I'm not holding my breath-you might be ejones999! cheers for the help :O)
  • hi there, thanks for your help. I have gained a little savvy from this site though I still feel like a novice. I find myself wheeling & dealing quite naturally now like buying my won items on ebay thru paypal offers which pays cashback into your paypal account. I also use my tesco card to pay for them. However, for the last 3 weeks I have dug my barclaycard out of the vault because I can get cashback on that until january. Because I haven't bought anything with it for so long they made this offer so I'm using it until then but on the 12th it goes back in the drawer-I feel quite clever!:T :rotfl:

Yes. They can be useful, but they can also be dangerous if you lose track of them.
