This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about
everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great,
inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old
Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already.
Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check
the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style
natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Good morning. still dark, but it seems to be a quiet start to the day, if a bit damp.Have you gone away NMLC, if so, enjoy your break. We didn't do a lot yesterday, I did a bit of shopping in our High Street, and DH was pottering, doing odd jobs round the house.Dil messaged last night to ask if they could call in for lunch today, Ds is doing a run over in West Durham this morning, so they'll arrive after that. There's plenty of stuff in the freezer, and I might make a couple of quiches. That's it for today - I hope everyone has a good day. Thinking of our poorly people and those struggling with life generally.Take care folks.15

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET for starting us off. Can't see what its doing outside other than being dark. No rain forecast but nor is any sun. I had a rubbish night (nothing new there) tossing and turning from 3.30 onwards with sleep eluding me again.
As usual for a Sunday I have no plans for doing anything exciting, other than a Tes*o delivery this afternoon. Like NAN I am keeping well stocked up in case of early snow! We are always the first road up out of town to be closed.
One of my shepherd's pies is out and defrosting for my lunch. Will do what remains of last week's veg to go with it, before new stocks arrive this afternoon.. I also want to make another tub of soup which should keep in the fridge for a few days.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. Take care all and stay safe x

Hi, I'm brand new here so hello everyone!
It's still dark(ish) here. I've just popped out of bed to put a chicken in the slow cooker and make a cup of coffee.
Nothing much planned today other than lighting the fire.
Have a good day everyone.15 -
Morning all.
Thanks for the thread Scarlet and hugs to all those in need.
Steve spent yesterday trying to sort out the tv problem, he now knows exactly which part of the system is broken, it's part of the satellite installation. It can't be repaired without drilling holes in the roof of the boat which we won't do. A new system would cost £3000 plus. The alternative would be to use the internet to access tv channels, but unfortunately we can't get a strong enough signal here. Still at least we know now.I
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.Chin up, Titus out.13 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start Scarlet, enjoy your lunch.
Damp and gloomy out this morning, so different to yesterday when it was really quite warm at times with brilliant sunshine, the washing dried a treat. Bed stripped this morning but that can go on the pulley. I was awake very early so finished a book with a hot drink in bed.
Most of the kitchen cupboards had a good clean yesterday, the DW was on 6 times to give everything a rinse through, just the drawers to do today. Also got quite a few other little jobs done including sewing up the hem on one leg of a pair of trousers and cleaned some of the windows as the window cleaner came to move some dirt about, he never wipes down the cills so I have to go round once he's been.
I have shopping to do this morning and a visit to my poorly friend if she feels up to it. I've a £10 off a £40 spend at Lidl so that's where I will be heading today. I don't usually spend £40 on general shopping for a week but can stock up on a few things.
That's a costly fix HH.
Welcome Purple Hedgehog.
Thinking of all the poorlies and those not up to posting, take care. XX

Morning folks. It's still rather dull outside, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised by that but I am always disappointed! I slept really well for a change and woke in the middle of a dream which I was enjoying even though it was weird.Yesterday my shopping trip was fine, I only went to one shop and was back home just as the rain began. I spent time doing a bit of batch cooking then loaded the DW up.Not sure about what's happening today yet, I'll just go with the flow.Welcome to Purple Hedgehog, hugs to our poorlies and happy Sunday to all.14

Good morning,
Welcome PurpleHedgehog9, this is a lovely friendly place.
Checked the gloss painting I did yesterday, it's not dry yet but doesn't look like it needs another coat🥳.
Which means that I can get out into the garden, I need to lift the rest of the dahlias, dig up the sunflowers and cut back the buddleia, that should hopefully put the garden to bed for the winter🤞
Have a good day🌻12 -
Morning all
Dry and bright here for the moment but rain due later I think, the washing will have to be dried indoors today. Yesterday OH went to collect the shopping and he phoned me and said thy had no record of it, I checked my email and its for today Im so glad he went and not me ! so he will go back today and try again
I have ordered us a bit of lamb today, we dont have it often as its expensive but thought we would have a treat, I shall ask mum if she wants to come up for a dinner as she is away at my cousins for a few days this week so wont have much in food wise, I shall do enough for tomorrow too.
Will get the dogs out for a good walk later and then hope for a roast and light the fire, it is getting chilly in the evenings.
Have good days all and stay safe xxx12 -
Morning lovelies and a big hello to PurpleHedgehogI spent the day chained to my wm as DD kept on bring up the washing, 5 loads 😱 which turned into 7 in my smaller one. Thankfully she hadn't killed her TD too. I can't remember if she's bring up her bedding today or not as there was talk of her keeping it till the new wm arrives on Sat. SiL had gone to Cardiff to watch a match so she came back up at teatime with the DGC, and Jasper the dog, in tow for tea. A hasty hot dogs and chips followed by a chocolate gateaux went down a treat, then we watched past Christmas videos when the DGC were little ones. Awwww ! Watching one after the other we noticed that every year DGD would come in and wave at the camera, she even managed to do it last year and we were in 2 different houses 🤣 ( we used whatsup face to face )This morning the sun is shining so I have stripped my own bed and will put the bedding in the wm, but I have a mixed load in at the moment, it will just have to wait it's turn. I shall watch the Cenotaph parade this morning to remember those who have passed on and then I will get on with my jigsaw and re-make the bed.Tea today will be tortellini with a cheese sauce and I shall cook a part baked baguette to go with it. There's also some gateaux left over too.Hugs to all and healing vibes to the poorly ones.Take care allnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11
