Hi folks,
Does anyone invest in one of the many s&p 500 funds?
I'm looking a drip feeding In monthly which I also currently do with the L&G global tech but there are so many its difficult to choose one. UBS accumulation or vanguard ucits etc.
Does anyone else invest in the s&p 500 and which fund did you choose? Looking at 3-5 years invest and forget.
Thank you.

Yes I do. It depends which ones are available on the platform you use but I just picked the cheapest available when they're all tracking the same index.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.1

If you're investing in a US fund are you also investing in a European fund, Japanese fund, Emerging Market fund, etc... If not, why not?
Personally I mainly use multi asset funds which give me all the exposure to the US I want. I don't invest specifically in an S&P 500 fund.1 -
3-5 years is probably too short a time frame to invest, especially in such a direly concentrated and overvalued index. Why the S&P 500 and why only 3-5 years?

Way to focussed on the US economy for my liking. A bit of S&P to go with the rest of the world can be achieved by using a global fund.1

I used to hold a S+P fund, but pulled out as it reached my risk appetite, Who knows I might be wrong, the market may not be overheated, but I would rather take some profit than a loss.

Thanks for the replies and all points noted.
As for the rest of the world or global type funds, which may be worth looking into as opposed to being constrained by the S&P?
Thanks.

alot of the common index trackers are heavily weighted in USA companies, some more than 60%. So your more than covered in that respect.
If it is in your strategy to overweight in the USA, would be reasonable to consider S+P index fund or individual shares if you feel brave,"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

You may end up with considerable overlap if you already hold Global Tech. Resulting in concentration risk and overweight positions. Worth X Raying your portfolio before making final decisions.2
